The meeting of the Working Group II on Open and Innovative Government, the MENA-OECD Initiative on Governance and Investment for Development, took place on 8 February 2015 in Dubai, back-to-back to the UAE Government Summit.

The pre-Summit discussed:

  • OECD Recommendation on Digital Government Strategies
  • Promoting the use of open data in the public sector
  • OECD Open Giovernment Reviews of Morocco and Tunisia
  • Update on the OECD Observatory of Public Sector Innovation


United Nations chief Ban Ki-moon and Queen Rania of Jordan were among more than 100 international speakers at this year’s Dubai Government summit. The event, titled Shaping Future Governments, ran from 9 to 11 February and focused on how governments can handle a changing world, with 87 countries participating.

A number of high profile figures within the UAE federal government addressed the conference, including HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai.
